We recently enjoyed a weekend in Asheville, NC with our daughter and her best friend/roommate where I took in a model train show on Saturday, we enjoyed the Biltmore Estate on Sunday and then planned to do some hiking along the Blue Ridge Parkway on Monday. When we started out that morning it had been raining during the night, and was still raining, so we weren’t sure if we would get to hike at all. Riding on the BRP northward we encountered ever worsening conditions, to the point that they closed the parkway at one point causing us to turn around and drive south of Asheville. As we descended in elevation things finally cleared up to allow our hike.
