First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday – Order to Kill by Kyle Mills

fistchap

On Tuesdays Bibliophile By the Sea hosts a weekly opportunity for anyone to share info about the book they are currently reading. In essence you provide the first chapter or two of the current book occupying your time or one you plan to read soon.

Order2Kill The book I plan to open next is the fifteenth book in the Mitch Rapp series by now deceased author Vince Flynn. MR. Flynn succumbed to cancer in 2013. Kyle Mills, another best-selling author has been tasked with the enviable job of continuing Mr. Flynn’s work, documenting the thrilling adventures of C.I.A. super-spy Mitch Rapp.

In The Last Man one of Rapp’s contemporaries, a man with vast knowledge of America’s covert secrets faked his abduction by terrorists and remains at large. While looking for his old friend Rapp must try to avert a crisis involving Pakistani nuclear missiles.

The first chapters:

order To Kill

I am anxious to find out if Mr. Mills can capture the magic Mr. Flynn conjured while creating 14 international best-selling novels. I invite you to come back for more First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday posts.

  1. I hope the author is able to do this character justice. I am unfamiliar with the series.

  2. Diane D says:

I’ve never tried this author but I know he is very popular. Hope you enjoy this one – from the intro it sounds promising.

  3. I’ve read and enjoyed several of Vince Flynn’s novels. My husband is a super fan. Neither one of us knew of his death or that someone else would keep the series going. I’m glad you participated in First Chapter First Paragraph this week.

    • Joe Owens says:

Thanks Margot! I am glad too. I have a friend that is also a customer in my wife’s in-home hair salon and we share books. I gave her my copy of Order to Kill while I was finishing another unread title I found at a local used bookseller. I am chomping at the bit to get started. A com0plicating factor is the longer days and good weather is the start of project season, usually outdoor ones at my home so reading time will be at a premium.

  4. Not my usual read, but I am drawn in by the descriptions in the opening lines. Thanks for sharing, and here’s mine: “THE CUTAWAY”

    • Joe Owens says:

Wow, Laurel, this looks fun! My wife and her sisters are constantly bemoaning how difficult it is to find good reads, I will pass this along. Thanks for checking out mine!

  5. mysm2000 says:

#15. Have you read them all? Are they stand-alone or would I have to start at the beginning of the series? (That’s a lot more books to add to my already incredibly long TBR list.) Sounds like you really like them and that they’re contemporary. Thanks for sharing. Here’s my intro/teaser link for this week: http://wp.me/p4DMf0-1wi

    • Joe Owens says:

I thought so, but recently I picked up an unfamiliar title at a local bookstore and was thrilled to realize it was one I had not read. This was an especially sweet surprise in light of Mr. Flynn’s untimely death. I still need to look up a list of the novels to see if there are more I have not read.

So you took time to read what I wrote and I appreciate it, but comments are even better!
