The tour guide led the large group across the grounds, telling  about the life of the once great ruler of this ancient country. All in tow seemed to be in full attention to her words. Approaching the main building a question finally came.

“Is it true he was beheaded?”

The guide cleared her throat and answered, “Yes”.

“But the head was never found?” another continued.

“He was killed in 48 A.D.?” a third questioned.

“Yes,” the guide nodded.

“X, L, V, I, I, I,” the first student read the date of construction.

“Oh my,” the guide said covering her mouth.

  1. A sneaky disposal method!

  2. Dear Joe,

Aside from taxing my limited knowledge of Roman numerals, you wrote a good story this week. Nice one.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  3. Nicely creepy as above. I just have to ask you to change one grammatical slipin your second sentence – “attention ‘to’ her words”, not ‘of’ her words. Then all will be as perfect as you mean it to be.

    Dear Joe,

Out of the mouth of babes…sort of. I love a good twist. Well done.

    Aloha,

    Doug
