Flash in the Pan – Backward

Flash in the Pan is another opportunity for you to enjoy Flash Fiction. I was happy to find it, but I am sure there are others who do not know. While flash can mean a lot of things, for this specific challenge it is limited to 150 words or less.  There is a range of limits for each of the words selected for the Flash in the Pan challenge and Up is one of those with the highest word limit.

By selecting the words in the quarter’s list you can know your word limit. The exciting thing is that these stories are collected for publication each quarter. But, only 250 flashes entered will make the publication, so do not hesitate. The deadline for this quarter’s edition is 30th of September.

“So what is his problem?” Katie asked.

“He is shy!” Denise replied.

“Shy? Denise that is more than shy. He does not have the ability to speak when he is in front of me.”

“I guess it is a lack of confidence,” Denise reasoned.

“I like him, but I would like to be able to talk to him, you know, find out what he is really like,” Katie said.

“Well, you may just have to be patient and make it a long term project.”

“You know what word my mother would use to describe him?”

“What?” Denise asked.

“She would say he is backward,” Katie said shaking her head.

“He is still a good looking guy. It could be worse,” Denise assessed.

“He could be stuck on himself,” Katie realized.

“Yes, just like your last one.”

“Okay, you convinced me. I will try to turn the backward to forward.”

The word limit for Backward is 150 words. Check out http://mommasmoneymatters.com/flash-fiction/ for the rules and to join the fun.

There is another flash fiction for you to try. It is known as Five Sentence Fiction. Lillie McFerrin is the originator of this challenge and each week she floats a new single word prompt for those who take part to use in creating their entries. You can find this weeks challenge here.
