Blogging Challenge for August from Blogdramedy

When I joined WordPress last fall I was eager to meet other bloggers and immerse myself in the challenges that help to not only develop my writing, but also great friendships. One of the bloggers I met that captured my attention was named Blogdramedy. She is a unique kind of gal that just immediately makes you love to watch for her posts. You know what I mean, the kind that just has a unique tilt on everything she writes.

She offered a challenge in the second week of December that caught my attention. It was called the Blog Festivus. The premise was that you would write nine short stories in nine days based on each of the reindeer. As I am prone to do, I went overboard and not only wrote the nine stories, but tried to tie it all together into a serial. Yes, i know, just do the basic, I get it. But anyway, it was a lot of fun.

Now she is at it again. This August she offers Blog Shorts. It is a ten day challenge to write 110 words in short story form. The title of this challenge is The DOG Days of summer. Here is an excerpt from Blogdramedy’s announcement.

This year, I’m letting the dogs run off-leash in blogger park and asking you to write 10 short stories to the theme:

*bark* The DOG Days of Summer *bark*

I’ve selected nine dogs (a mixed breed of real and imaginary barkers) and you write a story of 110 words around each character. They can be the main participant or just bark in the background. That’s up to you. I’m not going to write your stories for you no matter how much Gravy Train you put in my bowl.

The final story will feature a dog of your very own. It can be one you live with now, in the past, one you hope to own some day…or your imaginary puppy from when you were wee.

The puppy mill (perhaps a poor choice of words but I’m leaving ‘em) starts August 1 and scampers for 10 days, ending up at the pound August 10.

The blogger who, through their stories, makes me want to come sleep on their bed gets adopted to my blogroll and a little something else, which I’ll bury in the backyard for now and dig up for you later.

You picked me! I'm so excited...can I pee now?

Here are the dogs you’ll be writing about…

Cujo (Stephen King)

Toto (Wizard of oz)

Lassie

Fluffy (Harry Potter)

Jip (David Copperfield)

Snoopy

Frank (MIB)

Blacktoe (Will Riker’s dog)

Odie (Garfield)

The dog of your choice

ME AGAIN – I hope you will join in the frivolity as there is always a lot of interaction between the bloggers who brave the challenge. I certainly will be involved and I hope to see some of my friends come along for the ride. By the way, here is a link to BLogdramedy’s post so you can follow the progress: Blog Shorts 2013

I’ve participated in all of Blogdramedy’s challenges (that I know of) and have found them to great fun with great people. Now that I think about it, I’m not sure why they let me in. 🙂

Possibly the nicest promo ever. Thanks! For this, I’ll let you off the leash and find a cat for you to chase. 😉

Not sure how many bloggers we’ll get this time. Traveling right now and not being able to get online has affected sign up. But we’ll have fun anyway.
