Daily Prompt: A to Z

The Daily Prompt is asking for a short story of 26 sentences, using each letter of the alphabet. I enjoyed creating it and hope you enjoy reading.

Allen always knew he was different. But his mother didn’t care. Could it be because of his father? Dad was a strange one himself. Everyone told her not to marry such a one as he. Fearsome he was, standing six foot ten and weighing nearly four hundred pounds. Gentle as a lamb, he won her heart and lifelong devotion. Happiness consumed her from the first meeting and life with him was all she could imagine.

Ideally Allen would be his father’s size and that would end the teasing. Just one time pummeling those teasers would end it all. Karma was a strange thing, robbing him of the chance. “Loser” they called him every day. Moping through his life was getting to be so old. Never would he know the love of a woman like his mother.

Ophelia saw the despair in his slumped shoulders and vowed to rescue him. Pretty girls have that power and when they rescue the world can change. Quietly she began working her way into Allen’s life. Resting in her arms he felt complete for the first time in his life.  Saving him from a life of deep despair, Ophelia resurrected his heart.

Triumphant Allen saw what his mom and dad had even against long odds. Understanding the mystery of love meant he had a woman to last for all time. Vibrant colors filled his life as Ophelia made everything seem so much more real. With all the love he had for her, he knew his dreams were fulfilled. Yearning no more, he held her close as oft as he could. Zero doubt remained that even he could be loved by someone.
