Daily Prompt – Bookworms Grab the nearest book. Open it and go to the tenth word. Do a Google Image Search of the word. Write about what the image brings to mind.

The book I chose, after looking at several others only to find words such as and, to, the, but, or etc., was the 2001 Novel & Short Story Writer’s Market. As it turns out the tenth word on the first chapter is market. I am glad because i feel that will be easier to write about and I have several photo examples of differing markets.

Of course in the form of this book it is a listing of possible places my writing could be submitted. We writers appreciate the efforts of those who try to put bounds on the deluge of information about the potential places for our writing. I find this book to be a terrific resource as the information is collected in various ways to categorize particular fractions of the writing market.

This is a small market in Belize City, Belize

I saw some interesting markets while on my mission trip to Belize last December. They were certainly much different than the markets at home in the USA.

Of course there is a similar type of market I frequent in the USA. It is our local farmer’s market. From 2002-2007 I had a greenhouse business and set up on Saturdays as a vendor in an attempt to reach a broader audience. There is such a diverse array of items presented for ale each week, including baked goods, candles, vegetables, flowers, fruit and more.

Of course the markets in the USa are much more diverse than those I pictured from Belize. A megastore like the Walmart Supercenter will have several thousand products to offer. Market is a simple concept, but has many examples.
