This is an entry for Jez Braithwaite’s Fan of . . .
I hear you snickering. Everyone loves the ability God gave them to walk, so this is not really such a thing, is it? Well, it depends. I am not just talking about the ability to walk, but the ability to walk a lot. You see I have always been active, thanks to God as I have always loved being outside where I can enjoy creation.
But near the end of January 2016 I received a gift that changed things in a major way. Many of you don’t know this, but I have a blood clotting factor that can lead to blood clots. So getting up to exercise regularly is something I must remain vigilant to do and the gift I received certainly helps with that. At a work party that year one of the door prizes was a Fitbit Charge, a little device that records plenty of interesting information, most notably steps. In that first year I managed to cover nearly 4 million steps.
Since then the 4 million has become sort of an average, since the usual goal for each day is 10,000 steps. Up until now I hadn’t really looked at my step totals fpor 2019, but I had a feeling based on the average reflected on my Fitbit daily I might be breaking new ground. I think for this year I will approach 4.5 million.
This is my walking partner, one who always logs twice as many steps as I.
I hope to see your latest Fan Of . . . post on Jez’ site.
Great post, Joe 😁 Having not long been back on my feet after breaking my leg, I understand being a fan of walking. I normally hit around 25,000 steps when at work and 15,000 on my days off; to suddenly be sat in a chair all day was not my idea of fun. I’m fortunate in that my wife likes walking as well so she is my walking partner.
Wow Jez! 25,000 is a lot. I will occasionally top 20,000 and have registered as high as 30K. My wife and I love walking, but she doesn’t have as many opportunities as me.
