Thursday photo prompt: Journey

McNally walked down the road, wait was this a road? Perhaps it was more of a path. No, definitely a road since it was wide and occasionally had traffic, he guessed. Right now it seemed strangely deserted. Not a dog, or chicken or any creature. Had he made the wrong assumption from his message? It said “Meet me in the village.” If he was meeting Vasdanya it could only be this village.

A bird chirped and his fingers quickly wrapped the cold steel in his pocket.

“Dang, these Yeti cups are so cold,” he thought. The cold water kind of burned his throat and he swept his hand over his forehead to remove a swath of sweat.

He’d carefully counted his measured paces and looked for the colored stone with his next set of instructions. This was an unexpected adventure but not surprising based on his knowledge of Vasdanya, she loved the movies, including the spy ones. He tried to remember if this reminded him of any of the movies they watched during their dating time. What was she thinking?

He scooped the colored stone out of the sand and looked it over. What he saw made him smile. One, four, three, her code for “I love you” when she couldn’t say it. He saw a red dot dancing on the sand next to him and pivoted quickly to try to figure out where it originated from. When he winced from the loud sound he could hear bus Tanya cackling.

“Tanya Vasdanya, where are you?”

With her thick Russian accent Tanya said, “if you want me you must follow your clues!”

McNally smiled because he liked this game.

Yes, another photo prompt to help reawaken my Joe’s Musings site. This is a fun one where you post a photo to see if anyone can determine where the photo is taken. This is for Sue Vincent’s Daily Echo

Not quite, Joe… the prompt is meant as inspiration for a poem or story 🙂
