Callie’s Heart – Friday Fictioneers – 7 March

We come to another Wednesday which to 100 or so hardy souls means it is time to fib. Okay, maybe tell a fantastical tale sounds more respectful, but either way we are spinning a yarn about something our minds concoct based on a photograph chosen specifically by our gracious hostess with the mostess, Rochelle. This week Danny Bowman is the photo supply culprit.

(Genre:Fiction) (100 words)

****************************

Nick strained as he fought the sun to look at the ridge before him. He knew Callie should be near the top by now. He told her it was crazy, but she didn’t care. She was determined to prove herself. Racing to the top of Green Ridge was her way.

She would signal using her mirror, she told him. He paced impatiently as he waited for her sign. It was unnecessary, but not to her. He wanted her however she came. But she felt like he had doubts about her and this was her way to show him her heart.

  1. This is a fabulous character sketch. You’ve really made the form work for you.

  2. Sun says:

i love the set up and the questions you leave for the imagination about Callie.

  3. storydivamg says:

I wonder why the lady is so determined to run. Is she a heart transplant patient who has recovered? Odd that she is so driven but good that he puts up with her “touch of crazy.” We all have our own crazy streaks.

    Cheers,
    MG

  4. hugmamma says:

I love your “day in the life” of two human beings take on this photo. It’s got drama, but nothing over the top.

  5. She will get to show her strength of character many times in life. At least he knows what he is getting into. I read happily ever after ❤

  6. JudahFirst says:

    Lovely piece. 🙂
