Flash in the Pan is another opportunity for you to enjoy Flash Fiction. I was happy to find it, but I am sure there are others who do not know. While flash can mean a lot of things, for this specific challenge it is limited to 150 words or less. There is a range of limits for each of the words selected for the Flash in the Pan challenge and Up is one of those with the highest word limit.
By selecting the words in the quarter’s list you can know your word limit. The exciting thing is that these stories are collected for publication each quarter. But, only 250 flashes entered will make the publication, so do not hesitate. The theme for this quarter’s edition is Boys and Their Toys.

Soldiers (75)
Anna and Kelly gasped as they tried to suck in the hot desert air to recover from their quick hike with full packs. Whoever decided that it was vital for women to be equal in all things was an idiot. Carrying these things was not something meant for their slight frames.
“Equality, right?”
“I am not begging to see combat,” Anna declared.
“Me either!”
“Maybe housework isn’t so bad huh?”

There is another flash fiction for you to try. It is known as Five Sentence Fiction. Lillie McFerrin is the originator of this challenge and each week she floats a new single word prompt for those who take part to use in creating their entries. You can find this weeks challenge here.
Welcome to Flash, Joe. I enjoyed the concept, but I wondered where you incorporated the word “soldier”.I commonly do this myself. Keep up the good work. Glad to be working with you.
