Daily Prompt – Thank You

Daily Prompt-Thank You – The internet is full of rants. Help tip the balance: today, simply be thankful for something (or someone).

I like to believe I am thankful for what I have in my life. Those who follow my blog know that I am a Christian and regularly share that fact. I believe it is important to give thanks everyday for the blessings of my life. You see every day on earth is a gift, that is why it is called the present. Yes, i know that is not a new idea and I certainly do not claim it to be my original thought, but it is so true.

I am the remaining survivor of an original family of four. My brother, father and mother have died within the past seventeen years from cancer. Losing my brother when he was just twenty nine was a profound learning experience. Before that time I was never really a materialistic type, but any connection with things was broken when i saw others bringing items to him when he was sick because they didn’t know what else to do. As you can imagine, none of the things made any difference. When my brother died all that stuff transitioned to a pile of clutter.

So you know my first thanks each day goes to God. I also would like to thank my wife for putting up with me. We all believe we cannot be that hard to live with, but I know better. As I continue to age I get more cranky. My wife is patient with me as long as she can be, then she calls me on my ways. Sometimes she has to go a long way to bring me around, but she continues to try and for that I am extremely thankful.

I want to thank my kids for being such a wonderful part of my life. I have loved being around children all of my life and there is a unique gift in having your own offspring that brightens you life. Now my children are teenagers and have several good friends from our church that spend a lot of time with them. I am thankful my kids have such good friends to share the events of their lives.

I am thankful I have found such a supportive and knowledgeable writing platform like WordPress, where I can learn so much about the writing, and publishing process. It has given me a way to enjoy my most favorite hobby, writing, while getting my work out for more people to read. It is great to learn while watching others who are further along in the process and to share in their journey. All of us need friends that will cheer us on and buck us up when we hit the dry spots in our effort. Writing can be a solitary process, but having other friends doing the same gives us insight on how to help each other.

I could and should go on because thankfulness can extend in so many directions, but I think for now this is sufficient. Thank you for reading, liking and commenting on my blog. Without you there would be no reason to do this.
