A Word a Week Photo Challenge – Ornate

A Word a Week Challenge – OrnateWhy you ask would I include the photos below as my entry to the Word a Week Challenge? Because one thing you have to understand is that construction in the country of Belize is different than in the United States. During my mission trip last December I got to see a lot of different looking structures. You may not know this, but most structures in this country are built a little at a time. Unlike the United States process where a sizable loan is secured, the people of Belize build as they have the money.

Another unique factor is that there is not an abundance of cement mixers rumbling around the country. In fact, the work is usually done by hand. So when you look at the structures I share photos from think about the amount of hand labor involved.

I point your attention toward the spiral staircase on each end of this home and the work on the second floor.
