Stealing Christmas – Friday Fictioneers – 30th August

Where can you find the excitement of an unopened present short of your birthday or Christmas? Not many places unless you have someone in your life whose flair is for gift giving. Otherwise you must wait for the time of the year when gift-giving is the norm. Unless, of course, you count yourself among the hearty crew of Friday Fictioneers who step up for their weekly surprise from our  hostess, Rochelle, who picks one of her collection of unique photos each week. It has become one of my favorite weekly activities. The photo nod goes to Dawn M, Miller this time around.

Fiction – 100 words

“You were slower that time mate!” Hugo growled.

“I ran full speed!”

“It’s not the ground you cover, it is the amount of stuff your grab when you smash the glass. We got only half the stuff that was there.”

“It’s still several thousand pounds worth!” Barry protested.

“Did you get the big one,” Hugo said sifting through Barry’s bag of jewels.

“Yes. I made sure to grab it.”

“Then it’s not a total loss.”

“Bouviers will not have a great holiday season this year,” Barry said as he smiled.

“What’s flashing?”

“Flashing?” Barry replied.

“It’s a tracker!”

“Bloody hell!”

I want to share another opportunity for those of you who love writing flash fiction. Red Dyer and Redmund Productions offer a quarterly publication that gathers 250 flash fiction stories according to a specific theme and set of words during a thirteen week time period. Right now is the fall session and several words are already in play. There is still over a month to go with this, so hop on over and try your hand:

About Joe Owens

Can you tell from my writing I love God? I hope so because that is what I want you to know most about me. I am also a writer who loves taking on fiction prompts and crafting a story. One day you will read my work in print. Until then enjoy it here! For free!

    Dear Joe,

Nice story with an interesting twist. Smash and grabbers instead of the smooth Pink Panter types. Did you mean to write ‘you’ where you have the word ‘your’ in the third paragraph? IKWYM*

  2. Jan Brown says:

The dialogue seems very realistic. A severe loss of brain cells appears to be pretty common among criminals…. and these two will probably spend Christmas somewhere with bars (not the kind that serve alcohol).

  3. JackieP says:

    That was good!

  4. rgayer55 says:

As a general rule, criminals aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer. These two couldn’t even cut warm butter. Nice story, Joe.

  5. zookyworld says:

Ah, those best-laid plans… I like how these thieves were thwarted!

  6. Dear Joe,

I know where these two bozos will be spending their Christmas. Good one.

  7. Carrie says:

that’ll teach em to just grab without really looking!!

Some guys are not always the brightest are they.

So you took time to read what I wrote and I appreciate it, but comments are even better!
