Toto’s Secret – Blog Shorts – Dog Days of Summer #2

Today is August 2nd and the second of the ten day Blog Shorts – Dog Days of Summer festival with the hostess of hostesses, Blogdramedy. This is my second round with one of her creations, following the Bog Festivus last December. You can expect some hilarity and hard to believe fiction from those brave enough to strap on their helmets for this wild ride. Each day we take a famous pooch and have our crack at telling their hidden story.

Today we get the famous pooch with alternating letters in his name. The one that took the ride in the bicycle basket in the middle of a Tornado.  He who managed to suppress a string of comebacks after one of the most famous lines in Hollywood history that certainly deserved one. On this day we finally get the lowdown on the conversation between Toto and the head writer following that scene.

“I don’t think we are in Kansas anymore,” she says. “What’s my response? Woof! That was the perfect time for “No stinking kidding Dotty!” or “Really what was your first clue, the sawed off humans?” I also could’ve said “Yeah, here they have interesting people and color in their life, instead of that drab black and white on the farm.” Anything would have topped “Woof.”

“But Toto, the movie was set in the nineteen thirties. A talking dog would have been science fiction then.”

“Maybe I can convince Turner. He is willing to re-do movies. I can get something inserted.”

“But which line?”

“I always wanted to call her Dotty!”
