Flash in the Pan is not new to me anymore, but I am sure there are others who do not know. While flash can mean a lot of things, for this specific challenge it is limited to 100 words or less. The particular word i chose for this post is Left and it is limited to only 75 words. This makes your writing of each word all the more important.
By selecting the words in the quarter’s list you can know your word limit. The exciting thing is that these stories are collected for publication each quarter. But, only the first 250 flashes entered will make the publication, so do not hesitate. The deadline for this quarter’s edition is 30th of September.

Running from the intense heat they held hands. It was vital they stayed together. The roaring forest fire licked at the path as they ran.
They slowed as they approached a fork in the trail. The sign was faded and hard to read.
Charlie looked over her shoulder and then back at the sign.
“Do we go left or right?” Jimmy said.
How would she know?
“Left!”
Safety greeted them around the bend.

Also, for you Flash in the Pan folks, I want to share another Flash Fiction connection. A friend of mine named Josh Magill is starting a multi-part flash fiction serial in which 13-15 writers will add one hundred word chapters to a collaborative effort. Josh was one of a dozen writers on a similar peoject of mine. If you think this interests you check out Josh’s link.
