Trifextra – Week Seventy-Eight – Color

For the weekend version of the Trifecta prompt we are sent off to create a 33 word effort with color as the theme. No limits on how we approach, as long as color plays the leading role. Check out Trifextra Week Seventy-Eight if you are interested.

Hattie stared at the dress, the one she wanted more than anything. Even with the right coin it couldn’t be hers.  Whites Only the sign over the door read. Her color was black.

I want to point you flash fiction writers to a few more options. One is Flash in the Pan, where you right short fiction 50-150 words respectively to words chosen and posted each week. 250 responses will be collected and published by Redmund Productions. You can check the details at the following link: Flash in the Pan. The other is a 10 day blog challenge to write 110 words about 10 famous dogs. This is the brainchild of my friend Blogdramedy and is known as Blog Shorts 2013- The Dog Days of Summer. To learn more about Ms. Blogdramedy you can read an interview i did with her : 10 Questions for Blogdramedy

This says so much in so few words and – especially that last line ‘her color was black’ – emphasizes the how sometimes absurd and arbitrary and harmful labels become.
