The Trifextra is a prompt where the writing chops are tested in a unique way. Last weekend it was a 33 word story I was excited to join up with this bando 0f fearless wordsmiths and was anxious to get back and see the direction offered for this week. I see lots of names I recognize from my blogging travels in this exercise. On to the prompt. This weekend they are revisiting an early Trifextra, the second ever. The challenge is to write a complete story in only three sentences. I will admit I came up blank for several minutes. how do you do this? How can I, known for my wordiness, cram a complete story into just three sentences? Well, here is what I came up with.
A Freeing Felony
Elaine fought the voice inside her head that demanded she turn away from this confrontation, the one she usually allowed to drive her actions of meekness, what she knew everyone would expect from her. But today was the day she would become famous, an iconic example of an abused woman who no longer would allow another to dictate her life; drawing instead from a collection of pent up anger needing resolution so bad. The gun was heavy in her purse, the resolution steady, the aim good enough and the end sudden, freedom came even as she felt the cuffs of justice bind her hands.
