Sophie Marcus is waist deep in sifting through the derisive reviews of the remaining authors at the writing conference where she was sent to investigate a murder. One by one she has interrogated the attendees, trying to identify the murderer or murderers.
This story is part of the weekly fun known as Friday Fictioneers. Led by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields, we take the photo and weave our magic with prose and poetry to entertain you. Our following seems to increase each week as new writers and readers join in the fun.
The photo for this adventure is usually supplied by one of our cohorts. This week, Ted Strutz is the photo provider. I hope you will check out his blog. Ted is also one of the 13 authors collaborating with me, Jennifer Pendergast and David Stewart on The Bakers Dozen Fiction Story. You can catch up on that project here.
Due to a popular requests I am keeping Detective Sophie Marcus as my main character for these weekly photo adventures. In previous installments Sophie is brought in to investigate a murder at a writing conference. You can catch up by reading “The Hornet Chronicles“,”Not the Usual Suspects“, and “You Be Mine, I’ll Be Yours“.

“Were you furious when you read this review, Mr. Strutz?”
“Not really. It’s not the first.”
“Not often someone accuses you of stealing a plot.”
“Karen Kelly was a hack who got lucky!” Ted declared as he poked his index finger on the table. “The Hornet Chronicles was no masterpiece!”
“Mr. Strutz, do you have an alibi for Sunday between 10 PM and midnight?”
“Of course. I was at the hotel gym with Jennifer.”
“Jennifer Pendergast?”
“Yes.”

Tom Bray waited for the response from his suspect.
“I was with Ted at the Icon Grill. We shared a burger,” Jennifer replied.

That Strutz is always hiding behind a coffee cup. Makes me wonder what he’s drinking. I bet it ain’t Kool-Aid. These writer-types always have something to hide. It must have been a damn good plot if they were willing to kill for it. Intriguing story, Joe.
The plot thickens. Really enjoyed this week’s installment.
