April A to Z Blogging Challenge – Day Twelve – Libby

My L could only be one thing: Libby. This is the name of my wife, no doubt the better half of our marriage. For twenty two years she has dealt with my ever changing ways and loved me in spite of them. I prayed for years and years for God to bless me with a woman who would love me for what I was. I can testify that God does indeed answer prayers. Mine at least, maybe not every one of hers.

I can remember a weekend when I was in college, probably 1988 or 1989 when I was still a couple of years away from meeting Libby. A good friend told me I should take heart because God was just taking time to prepare the right person for me. She was right.

I met Libby through the provenance of a lady that lived beside my family and had been my babysitter for several years. She was also the one who introduced me to Christ and she knew I needed a good Christian mate. She carefully and thoroughly vetted Libby before we ever met and knew she was exactly the right mate for me.

Libby is a hair stylist and very good at what she does. Three years ago she was able to open a shop in the basement of our house. From here she makes others look and feel beautiful, just the way she does for me and our children. Her heart is as big as big can be and she shares her love with everyone she meets.

She is the kind of friend everyone wants, the one that will tell you the truth even if it may not always be what you want to hear. She knows how to share the thing you need to hear without hurting feelings or making a problem. It is a unique quality not everyone has.

Libby also has a soft heart. She says it is something she despises and wishes she could trade. I am a big mouth and can always get up in church and say something. Libby won’t for fear she will allow too much of her emotion to show. It is one of her endearing traits in my eyes. I cannot imagine my life without her and hope I never have to know what it would be like.
