Beach, mountain, forest, or somewhere else entirely?

I live in the western end of the state of Virginia. We are part of the Appalachian Mountain chain that stretches from Maine to Georgia. According to the elevation app I have on my phone we have an elevation of 2,125 feet above sea level. I don’t exactly live in the mountains per say, but I can be there within an hour’s time.

There is many unique things to do in the mountains. Hiking, snow skiing, camping and many other activities are just a few of the options. I live just a few miles from a premier bilking trail, called the Virginia Creeper Trail that draws many thousands of people from around the country each year. I am also a short drive from access to the Appalachian Trail which is well-known to the hard-core hikers of America.

For my money, though, I would select the beach. I usually get to go to the beach about every three years or so. Our choice is a famous beach in South Carolina, Myrtle Beach. It was an option my parents first introduced to me when I was very young. I have several pictures of our vacations there when I was probably about two years old.

For our abbreviated honeymoon, a friend’s condominium at Myrtle Beach was the best choice. We had a grand time in the three days we were able to enjoy the accommodation. There is so many things to do at Myrtle Beach that anyone would feel like it is a great place to vacation.

My son wanted to do the sand art also.

My daughter wasn’t going to be left out.

The ocean is a unique place that offers a different experience than any other. The sun, sand and surf are some magical components of nature. While there is certainly some that do not find the beach attractive, i am not one of them. Watching the waves and the tide move in and out is still exciting no matter how many times I see it.
