Daily Prompt – Back to the Future

A service has been invented through which you can send messages to people in the future. To whom would you send something, and what would you write?

Wow a message to the future! I think if I could send a message to anyone in the future it would be to my children. At this point I am around to guide them as they grow and learn how to be a part of the world. As teenagers their world is limited in scope as they do not have so many hard decisions to make. But I know that will not always be true and I cannot always be there to lead them.

Daily Prompt

I would send a message to them to be received around the time they are my age. You see my parents are both gone. My dad will be gone for fourteen years this year and there are so many things I would like to discuss with him. There is just a perspective a parent has that every child can benefit from.

I certainly wish to be around as my children become parents. I want to enjoy this magical time every person I know who is a grandparent brags about. I want to spoil my grandchildren just as much as my grandparents spoiled me.

My messages would be along the lines of encouraging my children in their pursuit of showing their children the way. I would want them to know how proud I am of them and that I still had words of wisdom to share. To know I cared enough to send something ahead for them to enjoy later.

How nice it would be to guarantee that communication. There have been initiatives to do this in letter form I have been introduced to through my church. You write letters for occasions in the future that are collected and distributed at the appointed time. I suppose that could be an alternative if this service does not come to pass.
