This week’s photo prompt is based on the idea Forward. You can join in by following this link back to the original post the weekly photo challenge.
A couple of months ago I feel like I took a giant step forward. After years of praying for the right opportunity, I finally got the opportunity to step on a plane and travel to a foreign country for the first time. I joined ten others from my local assoication of churches in this adventure. We travelled over thirteen hundred miles to the country of Belize.
This was certainly a big change from my home in the USA in terms of the wealth of the country and development of their economy. Another piece of the Forward extent of this trip was how I came to understand that the residents we encountered were just as happy in their state of life than anyone I might know in the United States with a considerable amount of material wealth. I am lucky to have that understanding, due to the loss of my brother sixteen years ago. While his body fought the Cancer unsuccessfully people continued to bring tokens of support for my brother. WHile he appreciated the gifts, none of this made any difference in his condition.
As I move Forward now, I look for ways I can help with the mission work we identified in Belize. I work hard to get those in my church and others interested by telling of my week in Belize and the people we met. I also take every opportunity to blog about our days and get people reading my blog interested as well.
