Blog Festivus #2 – Dancer is not a Star

bf12Dancer was preparing for her final performance. The most glamorous and well known reindeer ever invited to be on Dancing With the Stars, she felt like she was doing great things for her kind. A thought crossed her mind that the judges looked unfamiliar, but talent was talent and she had it.

No one was better, including  Cindy “Knobby Knees” Keller, the skinniest reindeer from Mrs. Habersmith’s Twinkling Toes Dance, Jazz and Karaoke School. Being chosen “Most likely not to stumble during the Tango” was not something Dancer wanted on her resume. She was sure Cindy was happy with it and the cheap linen paper award.

Dancer’s nerves were shot when she began her dance. The judges eyes seemed to bore holes in her. She knew this dance, it was her favorite one. It was no longer necessary to think as her legs knew what to do. When she finished she knew she had won and simply waited to hear the expected words.

But no, there was something strange of the cards the judges flashed. The first judge had his card upside down. A six, no two, wait three sixes. Her score was too low. Cindy had won. She wondered before how Dasher felt, but now she knew. As she watched the trophy move toward Cindy there was this mustachioed stranger who smiled menacingly from the top step of the seating area. She knew he looked familiar, but could not remember from where.
